Obverse description Central field occupied by a quartered heraldic shield bearing the arms of Austria and Styria — the Austrian fess (horizontal bar) appearing in one half and the Styrian panther in the other — all within a plain bordure. The date, partially legible as a four-digit year (1515–1518), is struck above the shield in the upper field. The coin exhibits the characteristically crude, slightly off-centre strike typical of hammered billon pfennigs produced at the Sankt Veit an der Glan mint under Maximilian I.
