| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the Bavarian lozengy shield (fusilly bendwise of argent and azure), rendered in relief with characteristic diagonal hatching to indicate the alternating tinctures. The numeral 'I' appears above the shield denoting the denomination, flanked by the split date '16' to the left and '26' to the right of the shield. The coin is struck with a beaded inner border running around the periphery, typical of hammered Pfennig coinage of the early seventeenth century. The design is characteristic of the Wittelsbach electoral coinage of Maximilian I, Duke and Elector of Bavaria. |
