Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, the rampant Bavarian lion facing right, depicted in a stylized heraldic manner with extended claws and flowing mane; to the upper right of the lion, a small imperial orb is positioned in the field. The design is rendered in the crude hammered style typical of early 17th-century German Pfennig coinage. No legend is present on this face.

Reverse description This coin was struck exclusively for circulation in the Upper Palatinate, a territory occupied by Elector Maximilian I of Bavaria during the Thirty Years' War (1618–1648).
