| Additional information |
Automobil- und Aviatik A.G. was one of the more unusual early German aviation manufacturers — originally a car importer that pivoted to licensed aircraft production before the First World War, building French Farman designs at its Heiterblick facility outside Leipzig. Factory token coinage of this kind was issued to manage small-denomination transactions in company canteens and wage offices, zinc having replaced brass and copper in industrial tokens as metal shortages bit during the war years.
