| Additional information |
John Frederick ruled Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt for less than four years before his death in 1767, but this pfennig issue belongs to an even narrower window — the 1751–52 striking period, likely tied to a specific local monetary need rather than routine production. Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt was among the smallest of the German principalities, its coinage rights jealously maintained as a matter of territorial dignity rather than economic necessity. Small copper issues like this one rarely traveled far from their home region, which explains why surviving examples show pronounced local wear patterns.
