| Obverse description | The Bavarian lion passant to the left rendered in bold relief in the Gothic style typical of 13th-century German bracteate-influenced coinage, its body occupying the central field. A partial Latin legend appears to the right of the lion reading H · DVN, an abbreviated reference to Henricus Dux Bavariae Inferioris (Henry, Duke of Lower Bavaria). The irregular flan and characteristic fabric of a hammered silver pfennig are clearly evident. |
