Obverse description Interlaced cypher 'GW' (for Georg Wilhelm) surmounted by a princely crown, all set within a beaded inner circle. The monogram is rendered in a bold interlaced style characteristic of mid-17th-century German hammered coinage. The field surrounding the crowned cypher is plain, and the coin exhibits the irregular flan typical of hand-hammered production.
