Reverse description On the reverse of this square klippe, the Gothic letter 'L' — the initial of Landshut, the ducal seat of Bavaria-Landshut — is prominently displayed in the center of the field, flanked on either side by a small circle or pellet, forming the arrangement 'o L o'. A partial beaded or pearled border is visible along portions of the upper edge of the flan, consistent with the decorative framing conventions of late 15th-century Bavarian pfennig coinage. The design is incuse in character relative to the obverse, as is typical of this hammered klippe type.
