Obverse description Large crowned FV monogram occupying the central field, with the ornate gothic letters F and V interlaced beneath a ducal crown. Small rosette or quatre-foil ornaments flank the monogram on either side. The date numerals appear integrated around the lower portion of the monogram. The design is contained within a plain circular border, consistent with the hammered coinage style of early 17th-century Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel.
