Obverse description Central field features a group of five pellets arranged in a quincunx pattern within a raised circular boss, itself enclosed by a plain inner ring. A further series of pellets or beads is distributed along the outer border, framing the central motif. The design is entirely aniconic, relying on geometric ornament characteristic of medieval bracteate-influenced pfennig coinage. The irregular flan displays the typical undulating edge of hammered silver coinage of the Staufen period. No legend or inscription is present.
