Reverse description The reverse features the crowned Gotha wheel — the arms of Gotha depicted as a spoked wheel surmounted by a ducal crown with trefoil finials — centrally placed in the field. The date 1681 is divided with '16' to the upper left and '81' to the upper right of the crown, while the mint-master's initials 'H M' appear flanking the wheel at centre left and right respectively. The design is contained within a beaded outer border, consistent with the hammered technique employed for this small denomination.
