| Obverse description | Bipartite shield bearing the combined arms of the Palatinate (left half, lion rampant) and Mainz (right half, wheel), all within a beaded border. The Gothic initial 'F', standing for Elector Frederick I, appears prominently above the shield beneath a stylized crown. The overall design is characteristic of late medieval German hammered coinage, with irregular flan edges typical of the period. |
