Obverse description Quartered shield of Carinthia set within a lozenge (rhombus) frame, the shield displaying the traditional arms of the duchy — a panther passant to the left on the sinister side and horizontal lines on the dexter side. The four-digit date appears above the shield in Gothic numerals. The coin is uniface and struck by the hammered technique on an irregularly shaped planchet, resulting in characteristic uneven edges and variable strike quality typical of early 16th-century Austrian provincial issues.
