Obverse description A large royal crown displayed prominently in the upper field, beneath which appears the bold capital initial 'F' for Ferdinand I, rendered in a Gothic serif style. The design is uncluttered, occupying the full flan, with no surrounding legend. The hammered flan exhibits the characteristic irregular outline typical of mid-sixteenth-century Silesian bracteate-style minor coinage.

Obverse lettering F
Reverse description A large Gothic capital 'S', the initial of Silesia (Schlesien), dominates the centre of the flan and bisects the two-part date, with the first two numerals of the year placed to the left and the remaining two to the right of the letter. The coin illustrated shows the date reading '15' to the left and '48' to the right of the 'S'. The field is otherwise plain, and the irregular hammered flan edge is characteristic of the issue.
