Obverse description The quartered Saxon coat of arms, displaying alternating barry and semy-of-ruten fields with a central diagonal bend, occupies the centre of the obverse within a shield surmounted by a ducal crown. The shield is flanked on either side by ornate laurel branches tied with a ribbon bow at the base. The circumferential legend reads HERZOGTH. S. COB.-GOTHA, with the mint letter B and date appearing in the lower field beneath the shield, all within a beaded border.
