| Obverse description | Central field bears the Württemberg arms — three antlers displayed on a shield within a plain escutcheon — struck in low relief characteristic of hammered coinage. The monogram 'E H' (for Eberhard Herzog, i.e. Duke Eberhard III) appears in the upper field above the shield, flanked by pellets. The design is enclosed within a beaded border running the full circumference of the flan. The overall style is typical of small German territorial pfennig coinage of the mid-seventeenth century, with flat, irregular flan and uneven strike. |
