Obverse description Small cream-coloured notgeld on plain paper with perforated edges on all four sides. The upper portion carries the abbreviated issuer name in Gothic blackletter letterpress type reading 'Detaillisten-Vereinigung der Bezirke W. O. L. G. e.V.', and the lower portion states the denomination in bold letterpress as 'Gutschein über 1 Pfennig.' The note is unadorned, relying solely on typeset text without vignette or ornamental underprint.

The Detaillisten-Vereinigung — a retailers' association covering four small districts in the Kassel region of Hesse — issued this note as local emergency currency, almost certainly during the inflationary crisis years of the early Weimar period when small-denomination coin simply vanished from everyday commerce. Retailers' associations issuing their own Notgeld was not unheard of, but the four-district consortium here is unusually specific, suggesting a coordinated response to coin shortages across a cluster of neighbouring market towns rather than a single municipal authority.

The Tieste Va catalogue reference places it firmly in the Kleingeldscheine classification — fractional emergency scrip rather than the decorative collector-oriented issues that flooded Germany after 1921.
