Obverse description Central field features the crowned arms of Brandenburg-Ansbach: an oval escutcheon displaying the quartered coat of arms surmounted by a princely crown, flanked on either side by ornamental sprigs of foliage. The shield incorporates the characteristic chequered and striped quarters associated with the Hohenzollern margraves. The coin border is defined by a fine toothed or beaded rim. No legend appears on the obverse.
