Obverse description Central field dominated by a large Gothic initial 'C' for Duke Christian of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle, surmounted by an ornate ducal crown. The date '1624' is divided across the upper portion of the field, flanking the crown, with the mintmaster's initials 'H' to the left and 'S' to the right of the monogram. Small rosette or floral ornaments appear in the lower flanking fields. The coin is of hammered fabric with an irregular flan edge characteristic of early 17th-century German petty coinage.
