| Obverse description | Within a beaded border, a shield bearing the combined arms of the von der Leyen family superimposed upon the ecclesiastical arms of the Archbishopric of Trier, the whole set within a plain inner circle. The Trier arms display the characteristic cross motif rendered in low relief, while the impaled Leyen device occupies the centre of the escutcheon. The design is executed in the crude hammered style typical of small German pfennig coinage of the mid-seventeenth century, with no surrounding legend. |
