Obverse description Central field occupied by the quartered arms of the Bishopric of Bamberg, displaying the imperial eagle and the Bamberg lion in alternating quarters, all surmounted by a bishop's mitre or crown at top. The date 1649 is split across the upper field flanking the crown, with the numeral '1' and denomination indicator appearing in the lower portion of the field. The entire design is enclosed within a finely executed inner beaded border characteristic of hammered coinage of the period. The die work is typical of mid-seventeenth-century German ecclesiastical small coinage, with bold relief elements visible despite the small module.
