Obverse description The cantonal arms of St. Gallen, depicted as a shield bearing a harp, are centrally positioned in the field and flanked by the divided numeral value '1' to the left and the abbreviation 'PF' to the right. The shield is supported by stylized leafy branches extending from below on either side, forming a wreath-like frame. The design is rendered in low relief on a domed flan, with no peripheral legend. The overall composition is simple and utilitarian, characteristic of early nineteenth-century Swiss cantonal coinage.
