| Obverse description | Central cartouche in baroque style displaying the pine cone (Zirbelnuss), the heraldic symbol of the Free City of Augsburg, depicted upright within an ornate oval shield adorned with elaborate foliate and scroll-work mantling. Augsburg's status as a Free Imperial City ended abruptly in 1806 when Napoleon absorbed it into the Kingdom of Bavaria, making this late issue one of the final coinages struck under nearly three centuries of municipal monetary autonomy. The city had maintained its own mint through wars, occupations, and imperial reorganizations — the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss of 1803 effectively sealed its fate before the formal annexation came.
