Obverse description Imperial eagle displayed with spread wings, facing forward, set centrally within the field. The circular legend GOSLAR flanks the eagle to the left and right, with the date 1664 incorporated into the legend to the right of the eagle. The coin exhibits a hammered flan with an irregular, granulated border of beads or roping around the rim. The eagle's head is turned to the dexter and the overall style is characteristic of small late 17th-century German municipal coinage.
