Obverse description Central shield bearing the Nordhausen city arms, depicting a spread eagle displayed on a baroque-shaped escutcheon. Flanking the shield are the mint master's initials 'C' and 'M' in the left and right fields respectively. The date '1624' is inscribed above the shield, with the city initial 'N' positioned at the top. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edges, consistent with hammered coinage of the period.
