Obverse description Central field bears the Frankfurt civic arms: a crowned shield displaying a displayed eagle, rendered in the late medieval heraldic style typical of early 17th-century German hammered coinage. The eagle's wings are spread with pronounced feather detailing, and the shield outline is clearly defined. A partial circular legend in Latin characters surrounds the arms, partially legible owing to the irregular flan and characteristic weakness of hammered striking. The overall design reflects the municipal iconography of the Free Imperial City of Frankfurt.
