Obverse description Crowned shield bearing the Nuremberg arms — a demi-eagle displayed on a horizontally divided field — occupies the center, with the date split across the lower flanks of the shield (16 to left, 21 to right). The letter N, denoting Nuremberg, appears above the crown in the upper field. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded border typical of hammered coinage of the period.
