Reverse description A naturalistically rendered Cuban solenodon (Solenodon cubanus), known locally as the almiqui, is depicted in left-facing profile at the centre of the field, its characteristic elongated snout and textured fur rendered in fine relief detail. The curved legend FAUNA CUBANA arcs along the upper periphery, while the vernacular species name ALMIQUI is inscribed along the lower border. The date 1981 appears in the lower field beneath the animal.
