| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections depicting a golden key between two rocky promontories, a rising sun with radiating rays, and three diagonal blue and white stripes, with a royal palm tree in the lower portion. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked by a wreath composed of an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, tied at the base. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower field beneath the coat of arms. |
