Additional information

Cuba issued a series of copper-nickel collector pesos in the early 2000s targeting the foreign tourist market, which operated on a parallel currency system — the convertible peso (CUC) — entirely separate from the moneda nacional used by Cuban citizens. These pieces were sold through hotel gift shops and state-run currency exchange points, rarely if ever entering ordinary domestic circulation.

The pink orchid in question is Cattleya skinneri, designated Cuba's national flower in 1936.
