Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections bearing a golden key between two headlands, a rising sun, and blue-and-white diagonal stripes, surmounted by the Phrygian cap atop a pole. The shield is flanked by a wreathed laurel branch to the left and an oak branch to the right, with a royal palm tree at its base. The curved legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin letters, while the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed in bold relief along the lower rim.
