Cuencamé de Ceniceros was a minor mining town in Durango whose revolutionary forces briefly operated their own monetary supply during the chaotic years of the Mexican Revolution when Constitutionalist and Villista factions competed for control of the north. Pattern issues from these local emergency authorities are extraordinarily difficult to authenticate and attribute with precision — the line between an official provisional pattern and a later fabrication remains genuinely contested among specialists. Durango produced more documented emergency coinage types in 1914 than almost any other state, driven by a near-total collapse of federally issued currency in the region.
