| Obverse description | The obverse features the Mexican national arms at center: a Mexican golden eagle perched left on a prickly pear cactus growing from a rocky outcrop surrounded by water, devouring a serpent held in its beak and right talon, its wings spread wide. The denomination UN PESO is inscribed in two parts flanking the base of the cactus in the lower field. The circular legend ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS arcs along the upper periphery, while an ornamental wreath of oak and laurel branches frames the lower border. The entire design is enclosed by a decorative barbed-wire inner border, characteristic of Pillet's Caballito series. |
