| Obverse description | The Mexican national arms occupy the central field: a crowned golden eagle, wings displayed, grasping a serpent in its beak, perched upon a prickly pear cactus rising from a rocky islet amid water. The heraldic device is encircled by a wreath of laurel and olive branches, tied at the base. The circumferential legend reads ESTADOS UNIDOS MEXICANOS, with the denomination UN PESO inscribed at the base of the cactus. The engraving reflects a bold, detailed academic style characteristic of late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century French die work. |

| Reverse description | A dynamic equestrian figure of Liberty is depicted in left-facing profile at full gallop, known colloquially as the 'Caballito' (little horse) design. Liberty extends an oak branch in her right hand and raises a flaming torch in her left, symbolising civic virtue and enlightenment. The rising sun appears on the horizon behind the rider, its rays radiating across the upper field. The engraver's signature CH.PILLET. and the date 1911. are inscribed in the lower field or exergue. The composition exemplifies the refined Art Nouveau medallic style of French sculptor Charles Pillet. |
