This note bridges one of the most volatile transitions in Dominican political history. Rafael Trujillo had been assassinated in May 1961, ending a 31-year dictatorship, and the country lurched through a succession of provisional governments before Joaquín Balaguer was ousted in early 1962. The two signature pairs on P#91 reflect exactly that instability — different treasury and central bank officials cycling through office within a single print run on a single design.
The ABNC plates were retained without modification across both signature variants, making the serial range the only reliable way to distinguish the two issues.
