| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three quarters: the upper portion shows a golden key between two landmasses representing Cuba's geographic position, the lower left quarter bears alternating blue and white stripes, and the lower right quarter features a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a pike and flanked by two sprays of laurel and oak tied at the base. Two five-pointed stars appear at the left and right sides of the field. The legend 'REPUBLICA DE CUBA' arcs along the upper periphery in raised Latin characters, while the denomination '1 PESO' is inscribed along the lower periphery. |
