| Obverse description | Bare-headed right-facing effigy of Emperor Maximilian I, with characteristically wavy hair and a full forked beard, rendered in high relief with fine engraved detail. The truncation of the bust is plain, and the engraver's signature appears in small letters at the base of the neck. The circular legend reads MAXIMILIANO EMPERADOR, distributed to the left and right of the portrait respectively, in small Roman capitals. The field is smooth and slightly concave, and the design is contained within a beaded border. |
