Reverse description A right-facing bust portrait of José Martí, Cuban national hero and poet (1853–1895), rendered in high relief and occupying the central field. The curved legend PATRIA Y LIBERTAD arcs along the upper periphery. The coin's weight (1.6718 G.) and fineness (900 M.) are inscribed in the field to either side of the portrait, while the date appears in the exergue below. A fine row of denticles encircles the design close to the rim.
