Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion bearing a key between two rocky promontories and a rising sun, the lower-left section featuring alternating blue and white diagonal stripes, and the lower-right section displaying a royal palm tree against a landscape. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked by two leafy laurel branches tied at the base. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower field. Two five-pointed stars punctuate the field at the left and right sides.
