Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion features a golden key between two rocks set against a blue sea, the left section displays a rising sun over a landscape with a royal palm tree, and the right section bears alternating blue and white diagonal stripes. The shield is flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right, both tied at the base, with a Phrygian cap on a pike surmounting the crest. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower field.
