Additional information

Justo José de Urquiza defeated Rosas at the Battle of Caseros in 1852 and went on to preside over the constitutional reorganization of Argentina — the 1853 constitution his administration produced remained the country's foundational law, with amendments, for over a century. The 2001 issue landed in the worst possible moment: Argentina's convertibility crisis was already terminal by mid-year, with the peso's one-to-one peg to the dollar collapsing in December amid bank freezes and street protests that drove five presidents from office in under two weeks.

The reeded edge distinguishes this as KM#132.1, a detail that separates it from the plain-edge variant in what became a short-lived series before the economic collapse disrupted normal circulation entirely.
