This commemorative was issued more than fifty years after Eva Perón's death in 1952, during one of Argentina's most catastrophic financial collapses — the 2001–2002 crisis that froze bank accounts, saw five presidents in eleven days, and effectively ended the peso's convertibility peg with the dollar. Minting a silver commemorative honoring Evita at that precise moment carried unmistakable political freight, with the Peronist movement reasserting symbolic continuity while the economy disintegrated around it.
