Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms is displayed prominently in the center of the field, featuring a shield quartered with a key, three diagonal stripes, and a royal palm tree, surmounted by the Phrygian cap atop a fasces and flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering. The denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower field beneath the arms.

The commemorative legend CENTENARIO DE SU CAÍDA EN COMBATE arcs along the upper and lateral periphery, with the name JOSÉ MARTÍ inscribed below the portrait. The date 1995 and the mintmark appear in the lower right exergual area.
