Reverse description A detailed figurative scene commemorating the introduction of tobacco to the Old World occupies the full field. In the foreground, a native Taino figure on the left extends tobacco leaves toward a European explorer, identified as Christopher Columbus, standing on the right, both rendered in high relief against a background of broad tobacco plant foliage. A three-masted carrack under full sail is depicted in the middle ground between the two figures. The mint date 2005 accompanied by a small star mint mark appears centrally below the ship. The curved legend TABACO CUBANO · DESDE 1492 arcs along the upper periphery.
