Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, displaying the traditional escutcheon with key, rising sun, and royal palm, surmounted by a Phrygian cap and flanked by laurel and oak branches. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs across the upper periphery, while the denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower portion. Two five-pointed stars flank the denomination at either side of the lower field. The design follows the standard national arms type used on Cuban coinage throughout the modern period.
