| Obverse description | The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a shield divided into three sections: the upper portion displays a rising sun between two promontories and the sea, the lower-left quarter bears the blue-and-white diagonal stripes of the Cuban flag, and the lower-right quarter depicts a royal palm tree. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap encircled by a star, and flanked by two olive or oak branches tied at the base. The arc legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA appears along the upper periphery in incuse Latin lettering, while the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms. |
