Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a shield quartered with a key, a royal palm, and horizontal stripes, surmounted by a Phrygian cap on a staff and flanked by an oak branch to the left and a laurel branch to the right. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper periphery in Latin characters, while the denomination 1 PESO appears in the lower field beneath the arms. The design is rendered in crisp relief against a smooth field, consistent with the standard non-circulating issue obverse type.

Reverse description A full-bodied profile portrait of a Gerona native donkey (Burro Autoctono de Gerona) stands facing left in the central field, depicted in fine detail with naturalistic rendering of its coat, musculature, and sparse surrounding vegetation at ground level. The date 2007 appears in small numerals in the lower right field. The curved legend FAUNA IBERICA arcs along the upper left periphery, while BURRO AUTOCTONO DE GERONA continues around the upper right, framing the central motif.
