Obverse description The obverse features the Mexican national eagle displayed in the center of the field, shown in profile facing left with wings spread, perched upon a cactus growing from a rocky outcrop amid water, devouring a serpent — the traditional republican arms of Mexico. The surrounding legend reads REPUBLICA MEXICANA along the upper periphery. The coin is crudely cast, resulting in a heavily worn and pitted surface with low overall relief typical of emergency-issue revolutionary coinage produced in Sinaloa under Generals Buelna and Carrasco during the Mexican Revolution.
