Obverse description The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, featuring a quartered shield displaying a golden key between two rocks and a rising sun in the upper section, a royal palm tree in the center-right quarter, and diagonal blue and white stripes in the lower left quarter. The shield is surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a fasces, and flanked by two sprigs of laurel and oak tied at the base. A five-pointed star appears at the lower left and right of the field. The legend REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs along the upper rim, while the denomination 1 PESO is inscribed along the lower rim.
