| Obverse description | Bare-headed effigy of the young King Alfonso XIII facing left, rendered in high relief with finely detailed curly hair and a naturalistic portrait befitting his childhood age at the time of issue. The engraver's initials 'B.M.' appear discreetly below the truncation. A circular legend surrounds the effigy, separated from the toothed border by a flat rim. The date 1897, flanked by two five-pointed stars, appears in the lower exergual area. |
